Gift Aid

The Gift Aid scheme allows the Hounslow Furniture Recycling Project to reclaim some of the tax you have already paid on qualifying donations that you make to us. The Hounslow Furniture Recycling Project can claim tax under the scheme provided you have paid sufficient UK income or capital gains tax in any qualifying year. It’s a great way to support our charitable work to help local people in need across the London Borough of Hounslow and surrounding areas, and at no cost to you.

How does Gift Aid work?

When you give furniture and electrical items we act as your agent to sell them on your behalf. When your items have been sold we will contact you by letter, to tell you how much money we have raised, and how much Gift Aid tax can be claimed. If you are happy to donate the money raised to the charity then you need do nothing more.

It is this gift of money raised from sales of goods, or from direct cash donations, that can be treated as qualifying gifts for Gift Aid purposes. Currently the amount of Gift Aid set by Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is 25%. This means that for every £1 raised from sales of goods, or cash donations, that the charity can claim a further 25p in tax already paid. This makes a real difference in providing extra funds to support our charitable work each year.

Making a Gift Aid Declaration

Please help us by making a Gift Aid declaration. You just need to complete our Gift Aid form when we collect your donated items with your name, full address including post code, a contact phone number and your signature to confirm that you are a UK tax payer. We’ll do the rest and confirm your declaration in writing with your Gift Aid number. Your personal information will be held securely in line with Data Protection requirements.
